1dB Live is a professional sound-level meter and live monitoring tool. We built it to respect your privacy: there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with data.
The app uses the microphone to measure sound pressure levels in real time. Audio is processed on your device only to compute decibel readings and a frequency spectrum. Raw audio is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere. Microphone access can be revoked at any time in iOS/Android Settings.
If you join or host a 1dB Live session, the app sends the following numeric data to our server (1db.live) so the session's desk can display it:
This data is session-scoped and not linked to a personal identity — we don't collect your name, email, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers. Session data is retained only as long as needed to run the live session and is periodically purged. If you never use Live monitoring, no data leaves your device at all.
When the desk and phones are on the same Wi-Fi, readings can stream directly between devices over your local network for lower latency. This traffic stays on your network and is used only to deliver the same numeric readings described above.
Measurement sessions and reports you create are stored locally on your device. You choose when to export or share them (as PDF/CSV) using the system share sheet. We do not upload your saved reports unless you explicitly share them to a live session.
No location, no contacts, no photos (a photo you pick for a floor-plan background stays on your device), no health data, no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers or analytics.
1dB Live is a general-purpose utility not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
